This week, you are going to learn one last thing for our family and zodiac animals unit.
Here are what you need to do:
- Review the family members in Mandarin:
- Review 12 Zodiac Animals in Mandain:
- Watch Ms. Deng’s recorded lesson to learn how to tell someone’s zodiac animal in complete Chinese sentence. The sentence structure we are going to learn is “____属/Shú _____.”
Assignment for this week:
In previous weeks, you have done several written assignments. Therefore, you will have a speaking assignment for this week.
- Use the sentence structure “我属/Wǒ Shú _____.” to SAY your own zodiac animal in Mandarin.
- Next, use the sentence structure “____属/Shú_____.” to SAY one of your family members’ zodiac animals in Mandarin. It’s totally fine if you want to do more than 1 family members.

Week 7 Assignment - Zodiac Animal Art and Craft
Last week you should already find out you own zodiac animal. If you missed last week's assignment, here are the links might help you:
Assignment for this week:
In this assignment, please use any materials that you could find at home to create a puppet of you zodiac animal.
Here are some materials you may use: Play-Doh, plastic cups, egg cartons, cardboard, paper plates, colored paper, toilet paper roll, and so on.
If you need some ideas, please click the links below:
Show me your creativity and have fun!! J Please color or paint it to make it colorful! Also, don't forget to practice how to say your zodiac animal in Mandarin.
Note: You only need to make a puppet of your own zodiac animal. Of course, you could also make your family members’ zodiac animals as well, if you want to.

Welcome to our Week 6 Mandarin remote learning. This week, we are going to learn 12 Chinese zodiac animals.

Last week, we had learned how to say family members in Mandarin. Therefore, this week, you need to find out your own zodiac animal and your family members’.
If you don’t know your zodiac animals, please click this link “Find Your Zodiac Animal” and then enter the date of your birthday to find out. Please note that certain zodiac animals may have different translations. For example, 羊/Yang could be sheep or goat. 牛/Niu could be ox, cow or bull.
In this assignment, you need to write down your family members in Chinese, then write down each family member’s zodiac animals in Chinese.

Welcome to our Week 5 Mandarin remote learning. This week, we are going to learn how to say family members in Mandarin.
Here are what you need to do:
1. Please take a loot at the 8 vocabulary:

3. Last week, we learned the expression: “我爱你. /Wǒ ài nǐ / I love you.” For Mother’s Day. Now let’s learn the family song that would practice the family vocabulary and this expression.
Assignment for this week:
Option 1: Draw your family members or place one of your family photo on a paper. Then label each family members in Chinese characters. If you don’t want to use your own family photo, you could print out a picture of a famous family, such as The Simpsons.

Option 2: Record a short video. In the video, please show your drawing, your family photo or a picture of a famous family, then say the family members in Mandarin.

Week 4 Assignment: Mother's Day
Due date: Saturday, 5/9/2020
This Sunday is Mother's Day. Therefore, we are going to learn 2 sentences this week:
- 母亲节快乐!/ Mǔ qīn jié kuài lè!
- 妈妈,我爱你! / Mā mā, wǒ ài nǐ!

Assignment for this week:
Make a Mother’s card for your mom, and write down the message in Chinese characters. Of course, you could write more in English or Spanish. Please decorate the card nicely!
You could choose 1 of the messages to write, or you could write both of them. Here are the messages:

Week 3 Assignment: Tell Date in Chinese

Hi everyone, we are going to learn how to tell date in Chinese this week.
First, this is the date format we should know: "____月____日". 月/Yuè means month. 日/Rì means day.
Now, watch the videos to learn how to tell date in Chinese:
We need to know Chinese numbers in order to tell date. We have already reviewed Chinese numbers in previous weeks. Here are a few videos to refresh your memory:

Assignment for this week:
Option 1: Step 1: Write down the following sentence structure and fill in the blanks with your own birthday. “我的生日是_____月_____日.” (My birthday is _____.) Step 2: write down 2 of your family members’ birthdays in Chinese, by using “___月____日”. Here is the example for your reference.
Option 2: Step 1: Record a short video while you say your birthday in complete sentence: “我的生日是_____月_____日.” (My birthday is _____.). Step 2: you say two of your family members’ birthday by using “___月____日”. Click here to watch an example: Say birthday in Mandarin
If you feel it’s too hard to do both step 1 and 2, you could just do Step 1.
